During the Pandemic Restriction

In light of the reintroduction of the public celebration of Holy Mass as early as June 1, 2020 in all the Latin Rite Dioceses in Alberta, the Diocese is compelled to provide clergy, parish staff and volunteers with as much resources as possible to support them in this major undertaking. It is important for clergy and staff to recognize that the safety of everyone is imperative and that there may be a need to scale back on what is being offered especially in the early phases in order to assure that the guidelines are observed for the dignity of the holy liturgy and the wellbeing of all people.

• Oct 13 Note: Parishes are not to ask people any proof of vaccination as they enter the church. Nor are parishes to apply for and participate in the Restrictions Exemption Program (REP) of the government wherein people who are unvaccinated are required to undergo rapid testing with a negative result as a requirement for their admittance to the church. Funeral homes and their staff, wedding families, and third party groups are not permitted to implement the REP in the parishes. The Diocese will not ask individuals to reveal their consciences concerning their vaccination status. However, everyone is strongly recommended to be vaccinated and is free to decide based on their condition and conscience. All health and safety restrictions by the government must be followed. For details, see email from Fr. It is necessary that the privacy of registrants be always respected. Whatever online event system the parish will use, the names of registered attendees must not be accessible or visible to the other attendees. It is also important clearly to communicate that registration is free of charge.
